Google Search in 2020
Google has published a compilation of the year in search for 2020. As you can imagine, three of the top 5 searches in the United States included the word "coronavirus" with the top result being "election results" and the top person search was "Joe Biden." The top "how to" was " how to cut men's hair at home" and the top "near me" was "covid testing near me." Could anything be more predictable? What a change from 2019 when the most vital thing we had to search for was " Disney Plus" and on the top " Where is" was "Where is the Super Bowl this year."
Around the world
The American election was of interest around the world. The third most popular search term in France was "Election américaine" and the second most popular in the United Kingdom was "US election." The most popular "how to" search in the UK was "how to make a face mask, " certainly of universal concern. Our neighbors to the north were also watching our election with "US election" being the most popular search in Canada. Our Mexican neighbors searched "Electionnes Estados Unidos" as the third most popular, the most popular being "Coronavirus."

There was a lot of interest in "boredom" such as "things to do in quarantine" and of course the whole topic of "quarantine" and "social distancing." If you are one of the lucky companies in this unlucky year that had a connection with anything necessary to live with or combat the virus, you may have seen more Google searches hit your site. However, we can imagine that, at any rate, there were more Google searches in 2020 than previously, with so many of us on lock-down. Last year, in 2019, Google recorded more than 62 billion searches worldwide.
Today Data & Web wishes Happy Holidays to all of you and we hope for a happier year in 2021.
